ASU names interim dean of nursing, health innovation

Arizona State University has appointed Teri Britt Pipe, director of nursing research and innovation at Mayo Clinic and associate professor of nursing in the College of Medicine at Mayo Clinic, as interim dean of its College of Nursing & Health Innovation. Pipe, who has been an adjunct faculty member at ASU since 2002, starts as interim dean June 27.

Pipe is an expert on nursing leadership, as well as health and wellness, and has authored numerous articles in these areas. Her current research focuses on innovative approaches to creating and sustaining healing environments for patients and professional staff, models of resilience and stress management, interdisciplinary research in behavioral approaches to cancer care and survivorship, integrative health care and care for diverse populations. She has taught primarily in the areas of leadership, innovation and research.

Pipe holds a doctorate in health policy administration from The Pennsylvania State University, a master’s degree in nursing from the University of Arizona and a bachelor’s in nursing from the University of Iowa.

Pipe will take over leadership of the College of Nursing & Health Innovation from dean Bernadette Melnyk, who is leaving ASU to pursue a new position at The Ohio State University.

A national search is under way for a permanent dean of the college.
